Recycle your dirty fish tank water? You heard right!
You’ve got a bowl or bucket of dirty water from cleaning your fish tank. What will you do with it? Well, that’s a silly question for most, as it’ll likely be washed down the drain. But why not put it to another use to water your patio plants, flowers, or vegetable garden? The water is perfectly fine for watering plants, plus it has nutrients in it that normal tap water is lacking (think fish waste and debris in the tank).
So next time you’re cleaning your fish tank, think twice about pouring that dirty water down the drain! Your plants will thank you and it’s an easy way to save a little bit of tap water.

2i’ve been watering my plants with fish water for two years - i have the longest-producing tomato plants in the neighborhood! i live in an area where we’ve had drought-related watering restrictions - using (or re-using) my dirty tank water has kept my flowers blooming, legally!
site looks great folks, keep it going!

8We have two red eared slider turtles in a large aquarium that I put outside (with the heater and filter always going) on the back deck, since it’s nice and covered, and where we spend a lot of time. It’s close to my most prize perennials so I can a.)clean the tank w ease every few days just by replacing dirty water w clean and b.)consistently feed the plants. It works great. My flowers have never been so vibrant!
